OK, thanks for the tip. I can un-install the upstream ppa for vala, but
where can I install vala from that will work with the standard ubuntu
build of anjuta? I couldn't see it in the ubuntu software centre
normally which is why I installed the upstream ppa.

I have patched the fglrx package as indicated by Luc Bruninx and it worked fine
for me.
Will this patch work also on new kernels? or should I avoid to upgrade the
kernel since the bug is fixed?

I have an Echoaudio Indigo DJx card. In order to make it work I have to
manually configure and compile the module from alsa-driver 1.0.20 and
manually install alsa-firmware-1.0.20.
After these steps, the card works but random freezes occur.
In order to solve this, one must f
I think this option window was VERY useful, if the original gdm graphical
configuration window is not compatible with new gdm, then at least it could be
a new one simpler. But the original window has a lot of useful options like
remote login, autologin, themes, etc... if the graphical tool exist
instalation of the sistem without success.
When I decided to reinstall the 8.04 the image troubles desapeared.
I thought that with 9.04 the trouble should desapear but it has continued.

I may have the same problem as well. I upgraded to Jaunty 9.04 -
2.6.28-11 (i686) and lost all sound. I rebooted to 9.04 - 2.6.27-11
kernel and sound was working again. Rebooted back to 2.6.28 and no
sound.

Yes, it does sound similar. As said there "Intrepid uses the evdev driver for
keyboards, that's why the problem has resurfaced."

computer reboots and I'm presented with no login screen and with the following

Ok, I found the solution. Somehow the updater didn't replace package
kdm-kde4 by new kdm.
I've done apt-get install kdm and followed the install process and now
everything's ok.
