Nope, the bug is still there. Specifically, the crash occurs if I create
a new label (e.g. by making a label from a selection), then type some
characters, then press Ctrl+Z until the label is empty again. The next
Ctrl+Z kills audacity.

lirc's configuration is almost very good; it would be even better if it
didn't require user intervention. gnome-lirc-properties has
autodetection code which seems to work at least for me; could this be
