Sorry, I must've run apport in the wrong terminal window.

I have apt configured not to install recommends automatically, but
there's no user error: it's a bug that telepathy offered to import from
Pidgin when telepathy-haze was not installed. If Pidgin had simply
either not offered that option, or said "I can't import from Pidgin
without telepathy-haze" then I would have worked out what was going on.
