I notice that the part of the fix for this bug in the X server has now
made it into Jaunty (xserver-xorg-core 1.6.0) but the part that needs to
go into evdev has not, because it's been applied to the evdev 2.2
branch, and Jaunty currently has 2.1.1.

I'm sorry, I don't know what is exploitable by third parties. The
obvious questions to ask include: what applications including Lua code
take input which could trigger one of the bugs, of which a significant
sub-question is: what applications take Lua code as input?
Clearly in principle these bugs
Some of the bugs, e.g. 2 & 10, can cause DoS from correct application
code, conceivably triggered by inputs from untrusted sources. But I
agree the risk looks small.

I'm referring to plugins packaged in Ubuntu. They won't install with
only Firefox 3.1 installed, owing to the dependencies not being
fulfilled.
I type "firefox" to start firefox. For now I've made a symlink; but as
with other programs that come in multiple versions, an alternative would
be nice so

trang should be removed from hardy if a solution cannot be found as it's
currently useless: you can't run it. At the moment the Debian package
has the same problem (even in a slightly newer version) and is orphaned.

Please can you fix this bug? All the information needed has been
provided, and at the moment, this is one of the bugs meaning that use of
the Mac mini's remote has gone from working perfectly out of the box in
Hardy to working badly with considerable manual configuration in Jaunty
and Karmic to not

depends on libportaudio2, it should presumably build-depend on
portaudio19-dev, which conflicts with libportaudio-dev, and hence would

I just played around with the source package a bit. I tried removing
some Ubuntu patches, to see if it helped, specifically,
lirc_dev-2.6.33.patch and appleir_repeat_issue.patch. I removed first
one and then the other, but installing the resultant packages did not
fix the bug. Hence, it may be rela
Further investigation: I reverted to the karmic kernel and lirc
packages. No joy. I double-checked my configuration. No joy. I can't see
how anything other than lirc and the kernel would be affecting this, but
perhaps it is something else?

The name of the device is not the problem, lirc checks several names,
including the correct one for Lucid kernels.

I noticed this on upgrading from Karmic to Lucid: when I use bashrun
(not packaged in Ubuntu) to start applications, for example terminals,
they are started in the root directory, not my home directory. GNOME's
own "Run Application..." works
