Boot/Shutdown times have increased considerably.. Even I've noticed it and its
annoying.
I did a clean install and yet my shutdown time is 15s and boot time is 50s.
Ubuntu was no way like this. On Natty shutdown=3sand boot=35~40s
Memory: 2 GB at 1333Mhz
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8300 @ 2
Also happens on Ubuntu 11.10
This is especially painful when you have a single core machine and 1GB of RAM.
The CPU use is somehow tamed by nice, but not the memory use.

I pushed up lp:~kamstrup/unity-lens-applications/list-all-avail-apps
with the requested feature. It does seem to cause quite some stuttering
when searching. I'll try it on my el-cheapo netbook in a sec.
At this point I am not sure where or what causes the stuttering so it
needs some profiling.
Oh
Just checked in Unity2d - it seems it must be doing some sync io or
something because the whole screen locks up ~2s as it tries to render
the thousands of icons.

I had the same problem, but it was caused by a clipboard manager
(Pastie) I used. Removing it (actually replacing it with another
solution named "Glipper") made this annoying effect go away.

OK, the problem seems fairly clear. NVIDIA doesn't implement xrandr. So
the fix either needs to be enhanced to support Xinerama or simplified
back to the form of the original temporary fix.

Had this problem occur last night on shut-down.
I've had this problem occur a couple of times in the last month.
Using kernel 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:56:25 UTC 2011 x86_64
