I have just tried the above procedure in Natty. As far as it would seem, the
description panel and everything else is now cleaned after updating all

The fact that gksu does not support alternative means of authentication
has nothing to do with this regression in sudo. Relevant bug for that

I think have it figured out now.
I did sudo apt-get clean and then re ran the update manager and got
another minor issue.
I noticed it was a boot space problem, since this is a dual boot with
windows on first then the encrypted LVM I was in a situation where I
had no choice but to shr

fresh install. Though it seems to start the theme after a couple of
seconds, however nautilus remains at the broken theme.
The problem seems to be that 'gnome-settings-daemon' crashes, and nautilus
starts before it's up again.
