Nope, definitely not working for me (everything in alsamixer is umuted
and set at almost top values). It seems that it works for the 980 guys
which is good though. I would like to hear something from someone else
with a 380 to be sure.

Sadly, I moved away from Ubuntu and had gone back to Windows. For what ever
reason I could not get Skype to work correctly; always sounded horrible on
the receivers side. Since I depend on skype I had to move away from the
os.

Same happening to me, running 10.04 LTS, Nvidia GeForce 9200 GS card.
Using the metacity -replace command works, but seems to switch off
compiz which renders docky unusable, so I tend to log out and in again
to solve.

I am highly positive that in my case the issue lies within Apple Airport
Extreme-Ubuntu tandem. Laptop hardware has nothing to do with the

Actually, xorg does not control what vt it starts up on. And really I
don't think there is any real "rule" that X must be running on one
particular VT vs. any other. 7 is conventional but I don't think it's
required. Anyway, not an X bug.
