Hi there!
There is no need to convert LVM volumes to UUIDs: LVM finds its physical
volumes on all disks and maps the logical volumes stored on them to well
defined names. This is pretty similar to what libvolumeid does... but
since LVM's logical volumes are named by the user
I'm not in a position to test that right now. When edgy is in beta (in
September) I'll do an install then. If you can ping me at that point it
would be most helpful...

This is because totem-xine conflicts totem-gstreamer, so it tries to
remove totem-gstreamer, totem (which depends on either two of the
above), and ubuntu-desktop (which depends on totem)

install totem-gstreamer or totem-xine, why would it require a circular

I have no way of telling whether this is the same problem, but after a
reboot following today's update (4-8-06) the machine crashed and I got
the attached output.
Since upgrading to Dapper everything was very stable until August, when
it has reverted to the bad old Breezy behaviour. This suggests
I concur with Christophe. Karl, bugs are not milk; they do not somehow
"go off" as they age. :-)

This still seems to be a perfectly legitimate wishlist request, although

My usplash size is right on boot (I use in 0x323 mode - 1024x768, so I
don't see it fullscreen.. my choice), but I see it fullscreen on
halt/reboot, it doesn't keep resolution settings...

Confirmed on dapper amd64, works fine on edgy i386 so that's probably
fixed with GTK 2.10 (or amd64 specific). What architecture do you use?

Neither on edgy nor on dapper I have recognized that issue, packages
installed without problems. Make sure you have enabled section universe
for dapper-updates, maybe that's it. It seems like you've forgotten
that. Totem is in main, totem-xine in universe. So if you only enabled
dapper-updates main

Nvu has been translated to Danish but only runs in English on Ubuntu
Breezy and Dapper. Workaround is taking the debian package from Nvu.com,
installing from that and using the extensions dialogs to install the
danish language package from www.mozilladanmark.dk.

Same scanner, same problem on Dapper (fresh install from live cd) - read
about this problem on Ubuntu, FC5.
The solution provided here works for me, too (THANK YOU).
Did not change anything else (sane config e.g.,...), btw sane does not
seem to be installed (aptitude show) !?
