Any progress on this one? Upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04 beta2 does not seem
to solve the problem. In my case sending the udevadm trigger does not
seem do anything.

USB 3g modems dont switch to ttyUSB until udevadm trigger
This ought to be fixed at the udev level if anything -- usb-modeswitch
is triggered by it, if it doesn't get started and udev requires manual
triggering there probably is something to do there, or some usb issue.

I just tried Ubuntu Precise Alpha 2 and looks like this is also the case with
CDMA modem.
I use ZTE AC2726. It is detected as CD-ROM, and can't be ejected. When I try to
eject it, either via Disk Utility or terminal, I got the following error:
"eject: unable to eject, last error: Invalid argumen
You can see where I took about 4 minutes before I tried `udevadm
trigger`
