backup and then edit the /etc/network/interfaces file to remove the
configuration of these devices (except for lo which is needed for the
loopback interface). You will have to save the file and reboot for the

i forgot to mention that if i run knetworkmanager (as the default user,
or as root) it returns back to the prompt in a millisecond: apparently
without doing anything.

okay, for me knetworkmanager (knw) runs out of the box, recognizes my
network card (MacBook) and helps to get me online in both wireless and
wired setups.
Yet is often just disappears from the system tray, or it does not come up at
all.
Like right now the icon is not in the tray. ps gives me:

Still not working, now i am tryng ubuntu 7.04 and the networkmanager is
started, i had to install the wlan additional packages for prism cards,
after this i can see the wireless network but no connection.

I don't know if this is the right place but.. My network manager don't work
fine in ubuntu feisty: wireless card has been detected but everytime I must
launch from terminal:
"sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart"
to link my acces point.
my hardware:
dmesg | grep rt2500
[ 19.176000] rt2500 1.1.
After running knetworkmanager from command line, still it is failing to
connect to my wireless network, but it detects my network card.

Hello,
I was running Kubuntu Feisty Herd 4 and k network manager don't start at all,
my wireless network card has been detected after installation from cd , but can
not configure it because it won't start.
I am using a Sony Vaio PCG-FX108K .
