I have the same problem on Acer Ferrari One 200 running ubuntu 10.10
x86_64.
But, the mic is working flawlessly when I run live-usb 10.10 i386 (32
bit). So, I guess there is a problem with the 64 bit version, either the

I have the same problem with Acer Aspire 5517. I am experiencing this
problem from ubuntu 10.04 and it still persists in 10.10.

to hear myself. But

Save the file, and reboot. Please report back as to whether this fixes your

I have figured out this problem is with Pulseaudio. Alsamixer lets me
hear sound out of my speakers from my mic when I unmute it, and there
are times when I can actually get sound to show in the sound menu and in
skype, BUT then is shuts off and while alsamixer will still let me hear
sound from my
