I did that and it did not solve the isse. The issue is not with ALSA though, I can get sound out of my mic using alsamixer, the problem I believe is with pulseaudio. I dont think that pulseaudio is using the right alsa mic as the mic for pulseaudio. In alsa mixer i unmuted "mic" to hear myself. But the mute/unmute that coresponds to the settings for pulseaudio is for something else. Meaning when i unmute the "mic" in the sound menu in ubuntu, it simultaneously unmutes the "recorder" setting in alsamixer, rather than the "mic" one.
