I've tested the Ubuntu 10.10 RC alternate i386 install iso and it seems
to me the bug has not fixed yet.
8 days left for the final version. Please fix this bug!
IMHO this is a serious bug in the alternate install CD.

Sorry if I expressed myself wrong, the goal was not to doubt your
results but rather to try to find a reason in configuration and choices
during the installer that would cause it not to ask for proxy info. I
tried d-i on server with a standard server install and a JeOS install on
ESX, as well as an

"almost" certain you saw the proxy step...
So my choice was: expert options and install command line system at the
first boot screen.

the network when the installer asked for. So I think the network
connection has been detected. Moreover when I set the network connection
(IP address, netmask, gateway, DNS) the machine was able to figure out

still don't ask for proxy configuration when I chose the network mirror.
So this regression still exist in Maverick Beta. Please add proxy
support to the alternate installer.

I've tested the Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha3 alternate i386 install iso on this
morning and it has the same bug.
The installer asked for the network mirror only. There was no option to
define a proxy server on my network. I have to use a proxy for the
Internet connections.
