last posted on this issue have resolved things, as I no longer
experience this issue.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. Could you please test
this against the current version of "cups-pdf" found in my Personal
Package Archive (PPA) at https://launchpad.net/~q-funk/+archive/ppa and
confirm whether the issue still applies?

The next time I see this issue I'll have to try starting CUPS manually
to see if that is indeed the issue.
I'm still amazed that a production-ready LTS release would have such
niggling little usability issues as these. But I digress.

Gannin, the disappearing of the two printers in the dialog and the
reappearing after a restart is most probably due to bug 554172.

This seems to be something of an intermittent issue for me. A little
while later, the PDF printer came back and was normal. However a few
moments ago I turned on my regular printer and checked in the Printer
dialog, and not only did it not list the PDF printer, it didn't even
list my regular prin
Yes, the upgrade to Lucid apparently uninstalled cups-pdf.
After re-installing, I had to go to System -> Administration ->
Printing, click Add, and there I could select "Generic CUPS-PDF
Printer". After clicking on "Forward", the window seemed to hang at a
message saying something like "searching
I can't reproduce this on a current 10.04LTS system with Lucid.
The virtual printer shows-up fine, it's just called "PDF".
