Yes, the upgrade to Lucid apparently uninstalled cups-pdf. After re-installing, I had to go to System -> Administration -> Printing, click Add, and there I could select "Generic CUPS-PDF Printer". After clicking on "Forward", the window seemed to hang at a message saying something like "searching for drivers". But eventually, it did continue.
