With "compiz --strict-binding --indirect-rendering --replace" compiz
works as expected. It's slow as hell but that's another problem. For me
this is fixed.

To start compiz, the command line is as follows:
$ compiz --strict-binding --indirect-rendering --replace
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x5b
compiz.real: No stencil buffer. Clipping of transformed windows is not going to
be correct when screen is transformed.

I get exactly the same errors when trying to start compiz (and also all
the "visuals" warning in Xorg.0.log from AIGLX).
The video card is an ATI Radeon 9250. DRI is enabled and works fine (though
slow of course, but no worse than in Dapper) with Googleearth or any other 3D
