Regarding the unsupported visual issue, I had a look around fd.o bugzilla, and it appears that these problems are fixed, and that the warnings can be safely ignored:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6689#c2 "It's caused by the visual being marked non-conformant by AIGLX. A solution is being discussed on the mesa3d-dev mailing list. Note that this is completely cosmetic and has no functional impact." I don't notice any large peformace issues, but then again, the most intensive task I use it for is playing xvid videos fullscreened, and a bit of frozen bubble. $ glxgears -printfps libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x5b 2276 frames in 5.0 seconds = 455.046 FPS 2523 frames in 5.0 seconds = 504.462 FPS 2505 frames in 5.0 seconds = 500.892 FPS 2527 frames in 5.0 seconds = 505.382 FPS 2544 frames in 5.0 seconds = 508.770 FPS -- compiz fails to start as cannot find texture_from_pixmap https://launchpad.net/bugs/57804 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
