Ok, I'm marking this as fixed. The problem with the network interface
might be a kernel problem, but not a power-manager one (IMO).

Tried the T21 machine with Feisty, and it works, both suspend and
hibernate. There is something with the network interface after coming
back from hibernation, but overall it does work after that.

As for me, no changes with Toshiba AX/940LS. After any attempt to
suspend, I still have to remove battery and plug to get the thing back
to work..

The T21 has Edgy, and suspend works fine on it. Except that one must
press the Fn key to wake it up. The T22 with Dapper is still unable to
suspend or hibernate, and it doesn't react to the Fn key or any
combination when suspended.
T21 does hibernate too, with the exception that the built-in 3com

Can not say about Feisty, since I've decided to stay with Dapper on this
machine for now. That might change someday. I will try some liveCD to
see if they can suspend or hibernate the machine correctly.
Once suspended, it manages to go silent and dark perfectly. After that
the only thing it respon

same problem here, Toshiba AX/940 LS. Suspend and hibernate can freeze
the machine completely Power button does turn it off, but when pressed
back, the box returns to the state of coma and nothing wakes it up. It
is necessary to disconnect AC and take out the battery to get it back to
life.

Thinkpad T21, 512Mb RAM, 40Gb HD, NetGear MA401 PCMCIA
Kernel version 2.6.15-26-686 on Xubuntu.

With ACPI, Sleep (Fn + F3) just seems to shut off the screen. Suspend
(Fn + F4) will spin down HD and switch off screen, then moon LED lights
but others do not go out. It is possible
Not docked to port replicator, no PCMCIA cards inserted, running on
battery power, results were identical. Suspend caused an LSRBDA.
Hibernate did not turn off the machine, i.e. HD kept on spinning. I
think this was also the case in the above "hibernate while docked" case,
I just could not hear t
T22 docked, no Atheros WiFi card. Selecting "suspend" caused the
machine to suspend (HD and CPU fan stopped immediately, display went
dark with backlight off) and the moon symbol to stay constantly on.
Pressing power button shortly did nothing. Pressing it for 5 seconds

After a reboot, numerous attempts at Suspend and Hibernate all resulted
in the screen immediately going black and the screensaver asking for a
password. After the correct password was supplied, the user was
returned back to the desktop
