Are you sure you have the same bug as John has?
There are some other bugs opened against floppy problem, and I need that
info just to sort out things better.

I can reproduce the bug :
- clic on "floppy" in nautilus does nothing (stay in last place visited)
- clic on "floppy" in places : I heard a little noise from the floppy drive,
but have no software access
But it's not a hardware/linux problem. With dolphin (KDE), I can
read/write files on a floppy
I never said it was a problem of your particular system.
I asked you to do that because you first reported this bug so we need
information to sort out things in order to fix the problem.
it's an high probability the bug is in the kernel, which specifically manage
the hardware part.

I ran the command, rebooted and it still does not work. unable to see
the floppy or read the media. The file etc modules does not have a
line floppy or floppy0

You don't have to do this from terminal. Launch the command in a
terminal, and select text between the command from "gnome-mount..."
until the end. Then edit->copy, open a text editor : paste. Save in a
file somewhere in your home. Finally, upload this file on this page
("add an attachment").

I know how to do part of what you asked but how do I attach a log file
from terminal? Not sure I know how to do that part.
