I have the same problem with a Thinkpad T61. I was not having this issue
with 9.04. It was reproducible 100% of the time under the following
sequence: I'd have the laptop on AC power, put it to sleep, unplug the
power, then wake up the laptop--it would then go back to sleep in a few
seconds. If I

Confirmed on a Thinkpad T-43. Didn't happen before the update to Karmic.
And even when it doesn't happen, waking up takes a lot longer than it
used to.

After some weeks of use, I can reproduce it now, almost always. The
problem seems to exist when the state of power is changed (i.e. changing
from only battery to battery+AC).
Right now, while I am writing this comment, my laptop has a fully
charged battery and the AC connected. I unplug the AC ada
Isolate it thus:
1. Turn laptop on.
2. Plug in the power if it is not already plugged in.
3. Hibernate/Sleep the computer.
4. Unplug the computer after hibernate/sleep sequence is complete.
5. Wake back up.
6. ** "Well, there's your problem" ** -- Computer will now go back to

Yeah, this only started happening with 9.10. I never had this problem
with 9.04. That is strange that you are getting it multiple times in a
row though. I only ever have it happen once, and only after unplugging
it from power while it is sleeping, then resuming. I have a feeling that
it has somethi
I noticed a very similar problem: when I put the laptop to sleep, and
later wake it up, it shows the desktop and then sleeps again,
inmediatly. This happens sometimes 2 or 3 times until I can use the
laptop again. It started to happen with 9.10, it did not happen with
9.04 or older Ubuntu releases.
I have the same problem with Thinkpad T60

I've noticed the same thing since upgrading from Jaunty (9.04) to the
new 9.10 (Karmic). The boot sequence during wake up also seems to take a
while, and it almost seems as if parts of the boot sequence are being
repeated I'm not sure how to trace this, but I wonder if other peope may
