I've noticed the same thing since upgrading from Jaunty (9.04) to the new 9.10 (Karmic). The boot sequence during wake up also seems to take a while, and it almost seems as if parts of the boot sequence are being repeated I'm not sure how to trace this, but I wonder if other peope may have had similar problems..?
