knuutsen : yes, the webcam works fine, unless I blacklist the module

Also, usb devices seem to get correctly mounted when they are plugged

Hi,
I have a similar problem with my Sony VAIO NS12M, but the proposed
workaround (blacklisting uvcvideo) does not work. Should I fill a new
bug report?

I've never needed that webcam anyway.
It might be worth mentioning for relative newbies like myself that the

Just tried Manfred Bergners fix on my MSI Wind - and it worked for me

#Ernesto, thanks a lot for your advise. After blacklisting "uvcvideo" in
"/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf" the USB-ports of my netbook have been

I face this problem with Karmic Release Candidate.
Strangely, if the USB device is plugged during boot, I can see it in
dmesg, lsusb and can mount it like usual.
But if I plug it once the PC has booted, I cannot see it in lsusb,
nothing happens in dmesg, it is not visible palimpsest, etc.

Isn't this the same as bug #435352 ? Im on a MSI W100, clean Karmic alpha
install. Since last week's update, can't see USB devices (nothing on dmesg when
i plug them in), and can't suspend. There are at least 2 workarounds proposed
(no true solutions yet), that make USB ports usable. One is down

Sorry, but downgrading to usbutils_0.73 has not resolved the problem.
The USB malfunction of my LG X110 netbook seems to be kernel related.
Perhaps there is a different bug in the USB-utilities.

Sure, but be careful as this is obviously quite "unofficial":
Download the DEB package for Jaunty's usbutils from here:

force-install that package using the following command:
sudo
Yippee - other have this problem too - lets hope its fixed before the
release next week! Can someone tell me how to downgrade to jaunty's
usbutils please?

I am having the same Suspend problems mentioned above (on an Acer Aspire

Downgrading to Jaunty's usbutils at least allowed me to auto-mount USB

It seems that the usb-subsystem is blocking the suspend procedure. dmesg
