Can it be reopened?.
I have this exact same issue.
If I resume then wake up the machine, any key I could possible press
makes the system to reboot.
It just started to happen because it worked fine out of the box.

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

No beeps over here. No delays after pressing the power button to wake from STR.
The machine boots up right away.

I can confirm this.
System:
- Intel DQ45CB (using Intel GMA 4500), Core 2 Duo
- 8GB RAM
- Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit
Suspend to ram seems to work. Fans and drives stop spinning, board LED
indicates STR.
But when pressing the power button to wake the machine up it behaves as if it
has not
been in STR st

I can confirm the problem on my system. I was originally built with 8.10
64 bit. I had hoped that the problem would go away when I upgraded to
9.04, but it is still there. My system is as follows:
Intel BOXDQ45CB motherboard
Intel core2quad Q8200
8GB ram
Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit
Intel GMA 4500 Video
