I can confirm the problem on my system. I was originally built with 8.10 64 bit. I had hoped that the problem would go away when I upgraded to 9.04, but it is still there. My system is as follows:
Intel BOXDQ45CB motherboard Intel core2quad Q8200 8GB ram Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit Intel GMA 4500 Video USB mouse and keyboard Hibernate works fine.
