Apparently this bug has been fixed (see
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21470), but it relies on a
kernel patch. I say "apparently" as I haven't been able to test it yet.

Intel's 82865G/PE/P PCI to AGP Controller Freezes Kubuntu 9.10 B5
I chose to upgrade from Kubuntu 9.04 KDE 4.3.1 to 9.10 KDE 4.3.1 instead of
starting from clean slate using ISO.
During the upgrade using Aptitude, I had to manually resolve dependency
conflicts. Everything worked fine until the
I have the same freeze on both Jaunty and Koala. I have to do a power
cycle and reboot. It happens around 30 seconds after bootup. I have no
way to access any files until another reboot and then it all happens
again.
The work around is to revert to the old intel-2.4 driver. Using Koala, I

Worked around in Jaunty by disabling DRI entirely on this chipset. Lack
of DRI is itself a bug - #355258 - but at least it solves the freezes.
Since disabling DRI could be a pretty severe regression for any i865
users for whom the freezes don't occur, I won't be backporting this
workaround to Int

I can reproduce a feeze with Ubuntu 8.10 upgraded from 8.04. It's
reproduceable following these steps:
1. open firefox
2. go on bookmarks
3. find a bookmarks folder, click on it and drag&drop it in another position
I have the same problems:
When dragging a bookmark folder just a few places the whole desktop
freezes... Can't even drop it.
Except I haven't an Intel integrated graphics card but Nvidia.
So it isn't just only an intel problem... Must I report a new bug?

I have a similar problem. I have two identical machines (fujitsu siemens
