OK, I am changing the package to xorg since this is a failure of X in
Hardy to autodetect the correct settings on your machine. We at least
now have the differences of xorg.conf. However, I STILL don't know what
your problem actually was. Did the screen not show correctly (or at
all) in Hardy?
Thank for you attention Connor, I resolved my problem for this way:
I used a copy of Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) and run this in "Live Cd mode", open
terminal and:
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
And I get my configuration correct, on this I can modification without xorg
its crashing.

looks wrong, please post a screenshot or an actual picture of the

configuration", xorg crashes if I make a change in xorg.conf
parameters. But is not important.
I have Ubuntu 8.04 in other PC but is need the parameters of xorg.conf
(is S3 video card), For what not work this in other devices?

how the newer version of X functions - it relies more on autodetection
than static information stored in xorg.conf. Reconfiguring X will not
