Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in later versions of Ubuntu. It won't be fixed in previous versions of Ubuntu because Ubuntu 8.04 has reached EOL as of May 9, 2013. See https://wiki.ubuntu.co

I tried to install octave-forge for octave 3.0 manually from sources but I've got some errors. Moreover, it is required to build the packages from octave shell instead through a common Makefile, so the deployment of a deb package is quite difficult. I dont want to corrupt the /usr tree with some
