I'm very tempted to close this as "Won't Fix" for gbp-buildpackage as
anything we do here to workaround this is almost by definition hacky and
won't handle all the possible corner cases. As the package is "native"
there's no good/simple regex that can be applied to determine the
"upstream" version

With the nose fix, git-buildpackage no longer fails to build from
source. But you are right that any ubuntu change we make (which adds an
ubuntuN suffix) will break the build in the version check.
That being said, the package is a sync with debian, and debian has a new
0.9.35 in unstable already,

Rebuild for gbp, but it's setup.py doesnt like build1 suffix, so im
doing ubuntu1 and adding cludge to workaround that

Pick up Setuptools 72+ compat patch from Debian. Should by synced again
after Oracular.
