How do I force gdesklets to compile with 2.4? When I try to compile from
source, it finds python 2.5 interpreter and looks for headers for python
2.5 and not 2.4, which are the ones I have installed. The same happens
when I try to compile pygtk-2.12.1 from source as you suggested.

OK, try to compile the gdesklets sources. Make sure python2.4-dev is
installed, make sure pygtk is compiled against python2.4-dev (there are
packages available IIRC). Make sure python2.5-dev isn't installed.

In my case, after changing the files to use python2.4 I got the following
output on the console:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gdesklets
Starting gdesklets-daemon...
Connecting to daemon [ ### ]

Could not import tiling
If you refer to

Installing python2.4 and changing the files: gdesklets does not segfault
any more, but after "connecting to daemon" nothing happenes. So I'd say
"it helps not really"

Looks like an x86-64 related problem. I'm going to have a look into it. If
I'll be able to reproduce it, then it might be a bug.

Got exact same problem (but I have nvidia card). I only just made a clean
install of today's (march 28) hardy-desktop-amd64.iso image, downloaded a few
packages with synaptic and decided to try gdesklets, and that's it. Downloaded
it and installed from synaptic, and it crashes when I try to run
We need more information:
* What desklets you're running.
* Plain installation (no dist-upgrade)
* Since you're using a binary-only graphic driver, try to use a free one
(vesa) and see if the problem can be reproduced.
For now, it doesn't look like a valid bug. The traceback doesn't offer a lot
