There's something strange here.. I'm running an even older version -
1.2.1, which is standard in Intrepid:
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) ~$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=intrepid
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.10"
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) ~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.lo
I also still have the problem with 1.2.3 running on hary with a T60 /
X1400

Tormod, tried your most recent package
xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd_1.2.3+git20081030.a36896dd-0ubuntu0tormod~hardy_amd64.deb
and the problem is still there. Pop-up shows brightness values from 0-100%, but
no change in light intensity.
lshw shows the following for the video controller:

Tormod, I have this problem on a T60p,with version 1.2.2 of radeonhd. Backlight
control just opens a small pop-up, showing a brightness value that changes, but
does not actually change the intensity of the light.
I'll check version 1.2.3 and come back with a report. Running kubuntu 8.04.1.

Nils, if this is not fixed for you in Intrepid, please reopen the bug
report (set status to Confirmed again).

It's fair to set "fix released" here, because we haven't heard from Nils
ever and Matthew is the original reporter of the duplicate report.

Isn't this more something like "Whishlist" ?
And isn't this fixed in a current version?
"Version 1.2.2
[...]
Added RandR support for backlight control.

And there is even 1.2.3 out already.
