Gcompris translation was totally reworked last weekend by the Portuguese
GNOME translation team. The new translation is available in GNOME svn
[1]. Note that this was a request of gcomris main developer, Bruno
Coudoin in gnome-i18n. The reviewed translation was included in the new
gcompris version

well, it's now 2009 march 8, and
http://l10n.gnome.org/POT/gcompris.HEAD/gcompris.HEAD.pt.po still has
incredible and terrible portuguese errors like dirije (should be
dirige), aua (água), copía (copia), caêm (caem), which should be fixed
as soon as possible, since GCompris is targeted to children
The best thing to do in my opinion is to file an issue upstream(GNOME's
Bugzilla) and work closely with the current upstream translator to get
this properly fixed. You could keep this issue open for cross-
referencing purposes, but in my opinion, this is an upstream issue and
it is not related to U
Caroline, the quality of the translation is poor in upstream. This is
the result of a spellchecker in upstream (277 reported issues, some of
them limitations of the spell checker, but far from all):

Frankly, I´m doing it rather slowly. There are huge amounts of
corrections to be made, mostly spelling and grammar. I hope to have
some free time soon, so I can work more on this project.

I've been testing a bit the gcompris games. It seems that there are a
few strings left to translate, as well as some translations with bad
grammar and misspelled words... Must the gcompris project be assigned
to someone? Or can I start reviewing it and translating what's
left?...
