OK, so I installed raring from a daily image and the bug does not occur.
Since a lot of stuff changed, not just the kernel, it's inconclusive as
to how this was fixed. next I'll reinstall Precise and use the latest
mainline kernel, to see if the change is something outside of the
kernel.

Sure, feel free to unassign yourself, if you know of someone who would

Thanks!

Well, since this seems to be a system issue rather than anything to do
with fwts can it be re-assigned?

Colin,
We've had no time to further diagnose what pm-suspend does. I'll report
back when I find something. Thanks for keeping this on your radar!

[HP ProBook 6550b] suspending using fwts s3 disables audio output

Hi Colin,
I completely moved sleep.d out of the way, but audio is still borked on
resume. So I guess it must be something else that pm-suspend is doing.
pm-suspend is a shell script, so I'll go looking into what else it does
and try to diagnose this further. Let me know if you have any more tips
o
@Daniel, the difference in behaviour is because of the way rtcwake and
pm-suspend differ in suspending the machine.
For rtcwake, the wakealarm is set and then the machine is put into
suspend by directly writing to /sys/power/state to perform the suspend.
For fwts, we set the wakealarm and then cal
I tested with a mainline kernel (3.6.0-rc3 dated 20120822). This problem
still occurs, if I suspend using pm-suspend, speakers come up without
sound.

Hi Colin, thanks for your help!
So I tested with your ./suspend-resume.sh script, and the bug occurs;
audio works fine before running the script but the output dies after
resuming from suspend. So the good news is that fwts is potentially not
to blame here.
However I tested again after rebooting,
Attached is a script to test the suspend-resume with a wakealarm set to
20 seconds. Run with:
sudo ./suspend-resume.sh

Daniel, fwts basically just uses pm-suspend to exercise the
suspend/resume code paths, so it's generally not doing anything too
special. Can you do a clean boot and then see if the same audio issues
occur by just running "sudo pm-suspend". Thanks

Not a kernel-related, update-related regression, I tested with
3.2.0-23.25 and I get the same result (no audio after fwts has suspended
the system).
