1) Open RDV (vinagre)
2) Click top left 'Connect' button.
3) Protocol = VNC
4) Find Host ( select either IPv4 or IPv6, which yields same local ip address;
in my case 192.168.0.3::5900)
5) Also tried 192.168.0.3 alone.
6) Connection options (tried all individually)
7) Clicked
How do we raise the importance of this bug? This is ridiculous. Having
browsed for hours looking for a fix, my machine intermittently but
usually never finds shares. I have Windows, Linux (embedded NAS device),
and mac. Why aren't they showing up on a brand new install of 10.10? Yes

I have never used the -envy packages. I ALWAYS build packages using the
ATI installer, which uses dkms. I'm using most recent 8.6 catalyst now.
I will remove the script, and try depmod -ae as I usually depmod -a,
then modprobe.

Alberto Milone: this did not work. fglrx simply does not load. I'm
reverting back to my startup script as I don't know another way to
initialize fglrx.
I'm using upgraded version of hardy (kernel 2.6.24-19 now)
I've built the drivers from ATI's installer (catalyst 8.06-june)
It's installed here
Adding module to /etc/modules does not work for me.

I made my own script simply by insmodding the fglrx.ko at boot.

Same problem here. I'm not sure how to edit init.d but it's necessary so
that I don't have to manually insmod every login. Especially with
compiz. I have to blindly alt+F2, type xterm, metacity --replace
everytime.
Hopefully adding fglrx to /etc/modules will work...

I'm also running x86/i386 of ubuntu gutsy 7.10. running 1.8ghz amd
athlon xp with 512mb ddr on asus a7n8x mobo
powernow is not functioning for me as it states in my previous post. i
don't remember where I found it, but I commented out a few lines of
script that leads to the error message.
