Mine is Realtek ALC660. Volume control is either maximum or mute only
(discrete two-level on/off). In the volume control (OSS), everything
except master and pcm-2 can be adjusted smoothly.

At some point my wlan icon has disappeared, so I tried nm-applet in
console. File was missing.
I suspect that I had installed foomatic-gui and there appeared some
error sign about network bla bla bla...
Anyway I re-installed network-manager-gnome and it worked.
