Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Yes, I have read the report #50214, and I opened it because I think it
has a different aspect.

Mine is 8.04 hardy beta, and Broadcom.

Maybe my title can be "Sometimes, Broadcom cannot connect the hidden SSID
network". I saw some clues
1. nm-applet (or some real agent) seeks the hidden network better if I use
"connect to another network" rather than "make a new network connection" (maybe
somehow different since I am using Korean translated one)
2. For many times it tries to connect (null) network. If I place the mouse
pointer on the nm-applet icon, it shows something like "it is trying to join
the (null) network" literally. That is, it is connecting to network named "".
3. Most of time, iwconfig returns the correct hidden SSID.
4. Most of time, iwlist scan returns the wrong SSID, only "". It seems that it
sometimes returns "" and one with the hidden name, regarding them as different
cell (I am not sure whether another guy is using another hidden SSID network.
But I doubt it.)

Typically iwlist scan shows

lo Interface doesn't support scanning.

eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

wmaster0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

wlan0 Scan completed :

                    ESSID:""

                    Extra:tsf=00000000e5b0018b

whereas typically iwconfig shows

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.
