i have continued to have performance issues which are charecterised by
chrome making preload go nuts , its particularly bad when video is
involved. I discovered this by watching top when i got load spikes and
noticing that when i rebooted preload was bring the problem back.

The wlan/bt hotkey doesn't work for all Dell Latitude and Prec
This happened to me after upgrading to ubuntu 18.10 , i was previously
using the PPA version and the upgrade commented it out, it then
installed a newer version of remmina during the upgrade. to fix this i
needed to uncomment the ppa definition in my
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/remmina-ppa-team-ubuntu
this is still a problem in 18.04.
This is making it hard to use secure passwords because of a lack of
pasting.
lets not let ubuntu drag down the basic level of security because of bug
that was fixed several years ago not being in the latest package.

am seeing this on ubuntu 18.04 with a dell m3800 and OWC thunderbolt 2
dock and 4k iiyama 40 inch screen attach via displayport.
My internal 13inch 4k screen is initialised immediately but the external
monitor tries to sync but often times out.
It looks to me as if this is just an issue with time
I am having this problem on ubuntu 18.04 on my dell precision m3800
it has built in 13inch 4k screen which is perfectly setup and scaled
but i also have external 40in 4k screen on display port , this gets scaled
to the same settings as the 13inch screen which is waste.
under unity i could scale
this is happening to me on 18.04 upgraded all the way from 16.04 as the
releases came out.
i don't have secure boot , i use an nvidia graphics card , i am running
vmware workstation 14

When I try burning DVDs it ejects

screens are not woken up fast enough and timeout causing the windows to

I have a possible variant of this bug in 16.10 with a 4.4.0-22 (standard
kernel at time of writing), after a day or so of uptime i start to get
these messages. they seem to go away after a log out and login.
This is on a dell precision m3800 using plantronic back beat pro
headphones , this combina
upgrading to the 4.3 kernel above fixed it for me on my dell 7737 , have been
experiencing a lot of fan noise since this started and it doesn't seem to be
going away. Using top shows all of my browser processes constantly in more that
4% system calls all the time.
i also have a laggy response to
just noticed a similar instance in 14.04 , when the display was full
screen but the monitor was smaller than the display size the menu that
allows the user to unfullscreen is not displayed. This might be a
scaling issue.

this is still a problem for me on my dell inspiron 7737 .
works fine with 3.11 but every other kernel just crashes at the plymouth
screen.
additionally now that the kernel headers package for the 3.11 kernel is
gone nvidia-prime users are now unable to use DKMS to build things like
vbox drivers a
still present in 14.04 , this looks like an upstream bug as i've seen it
reported for fedora as well.
this is a very annoying bug because it means you cannot reuse loopback devices
so are limited
to 8 loopbacks untill you have to reboot , its quite easy to use that up , this
also makes scripting
bit install (3 weeks) from scratch that is being updated to
14.04 , no themes have been applied
and minimal customisations have occured , ostensibly this is as supplied.

i get this on mp3 files that play fine on other devices , i have
crossfading enabled.
it doesn't allways happen and usually only after i've been listening for
a while , almost allways when auto-crossfade produces a nice mix but i
want a rwind . i usually have to kill rhythmbox to get it to pla

I can confirm this bug with two different plantronics usb headsets a
blackwire c-620m and a blackwire c-420m.
pressing the volume buttons triggers a lack of mouse clickability and
unplugging the headset res
n settings required.
i can Ctrl+Alt+F1 , i haven't tried ssh'ing in. Usually have to reboot to fix
it.

bluetooth adapter and disabling the built in one on my dell vostro 1710 , i
think there have also been a few fixes to the code as well but now it works
great and pretty much never glitches.

made it start ok.
i then closed it and restarted normally and it worked ok.
it then failed again and i did the same but checked the addon list and
found that the web developer toolbar and split panel addons that i'm

its a lot better in karmic and seems that a signal above 215 is need for smooth
audio.
this equates to about a 1m distance

i get the same effect on my dell vostro 1710 running 8.10 64bit desktop.
but i don't get any error messages anywhere. It also seems to effect my
wireless network connection which doesn't recover unless i stop hcid

I am using 2.6.24-13-rt on 64bit Hardy and my sound is not working
because there is no linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-13-rt package which
would supply the module that it needs to work (snd_hda_intel). This is a
packaging error .

so to do the fix on both hardy and gutsy :

edit rules and remove ENABLE_JACK = no from line 48
cd ..
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b
then cd back to below your porta
got 1.6.0 beta2 working with jack by rebuilding the portaudio package with the
second instance of JACK_ENABLED=NO removed from debian/rules.
The logic was broken , it set this to no then conditionaly set it to yes for
i386 , ppc and then unconditionaly set it to no again so it could only be no.
oops should have said , that was in gutsy , not tried it in hardy

noticed the same thing and solved it by adding a killall -9 nautilus to
/etc/gdm/PreSession/default and /etc/gdm/PostSession/default . This prevents
nautilus from chewing cycles when people are not logged in
instead of just waiting untill someone logs in again. This also works if X dies
randomly
I applied the fix to /etc/evms.conf and stopped and then started
(restart hung) both evms and udev .
its all fixed now , lets push this out to the repos.
