After daily updates and reboot as asked, i was playing with wine and after
multiple resolution unsolicited switches finaly 1024x768 and 800x600 resolution
are the only choices in parameters, my monitor is unknown ... it was detected
before updates as a LG W2240.

I have the same problem top of A4 pages is cut, with Lucid AMD64 and a brother
DCP130C.
To print correctly i have to use another PC in lan where i kept karmic on it.
Waiting for update i'm going to try the workaround.

Still no solution, i re-install lucid on a new ssd disk, and try carefully to
not put sound to high by mistake (around 15%).
If somebody find a link to a tweak to fix it i take ;)

I used alsamixer in console to put everything at maximum volume and done
a amixer > amixer.txt see attachment.

Oki, any clue how i could demonstrate the problem with logs or other ?
May be a video with sound of the startup sequence of the livecd would be
efficient but i don't have actually the necessary recorder, i'll try to find

Still glitch/scratch .. the only way to avoid it is to use an
application which leave an audio stream open, i use audacious with the
the crossfade plugin activate and the advanced option "keep output
opened" ... ugly solution but i have no other solution actually.

Well, i found a way to deactivate the glitch, it comes apparently from
the "Monitor of Audio interne Analog Stereo" witch is not available from
the standard interface, i have to install it => asoundconf-gtk
And after deactivate it from the interface no more glitch in session,
when i reboot i have
Today 31/10 i booted karmic to check for updates, the glitches where
less frequent ... but first time i played a sound the glitches came
back, i applied updates same thing and glitches are less frequent but
still there.
