The NeatReceipts Mobile Scanner model NR-030108 is not recognized by
XSane/Sane in Ubuntu 8.10. The USB Product ID is not accounted for in
/etc/sane.d/gt68xx.conf etc. I took the following steps to enable this
device in Ubuntu:

This issue somehow got resolved for me in-between Ubuntu upgrades and
video library changes. Apologies, but I don't know exactly when/how.
So this is no longer an issue for me in the latest release, but I don't
know that it was the actual release upgrade that resolved this probl
It appears that Ubuntu 8.04 has this (and it works quite well). I've only
determined this from an upgrade - not a fresh install. Perhaps someone
could confirm it on a fresh installation and close this out.

I observe the following error reported by kernel after upgrade to Gutsy.
I followed the advice of moving from asus_acpi to asus-laptop found in
bug #105935 (same issue, different laptop model) and now only observe
the one error of "Error calling BSTS".

I too would like to emphasize the importance of this issue. Performance
is significantly degraded on my HP nc6230 with 686 kernel. With such a
variety of systems being impacted, I hope this issue will be be changed
to a higher level of importance.
