After some more usage, I can see that the system is still unstable. Sometimes it boots OK, sometimes it ends up with a black screen. I'v been searching through the logs and found that when the black screen appears there are no logs saved, just empty files (at least this goes for dmsg.0 and xorg.0.l

Geee, today the problem reoccured, without compiz being installed anymore (sorry for the accusation). Additional observations: The last messsage printed is about starting the cups deamon, after that the screen goes black (changes from text to graphics mode?) and also the harddisk rattle complete
