Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Made a fresh install from Ubuntu studio karmic beta amd64 alternate
install .iso, then updated all available packages.

At first I noticed there where rythmic sounds in the background, somewhat like
a metronome. When I opened some applications new sounds where added until it
almost sounded like music (well, Kraftwerk or something...).
I then tried to play an mp3 to see if the audio was working, installed the
required codecs into the Movieplayer and started to play but no sound of the
mp3, just the strange noises.
Looked around various audio settings but found nothing wrong. Googled a bit and
got the tip to kill/restart pulseaudio and after doing so the noises where gone
and the movie player was able to play the mp3.

The problem has not reappeared since, even though I have rebooted
several times. Please advice if there is some additional info you like
me to add or what I should look for if it happens again.
