The KDE power manager tooltip shows untranslated message "hh:mm
remaining" and "hh:mm to charge" although the message is in .po file and
translated properly.
I have found the problem - the i18n call in source is used improperly -
i18n is app
The bug is still there, Contents-i386.gz is only 677 bytes long and
contains only generic instructions instead of real content.
Please fix it as this makes also packages.ubuntu.com search unusable.

I don't know, I am using wxwidgets2.6 2.6.1.2ubuntu2 (from Dapper, I
have recompiled Wammu for Dapper). If 2.6.3.2.2-2ubuntu5 is the

I have run into similar bug using Kubuntu 8.04.1 desktop CD. The
installer disappeared without any warning and there was not
/boot/grub/menu.lst on installed system. The stage files were present.
In installer log I have found the following errors:

I have run into the problem 3 days ago while simple installation of bootchart.
The state of the rest of the system was from 2006-06-10, I have just installed
bootchart which triggered the upgrade of some packages.
I am attaching log of the upgrade which caused the problem.

I have exactly the same problem. Version: Kubuntu Dapper with KDE 3.5.5
from kubuntu.org. But as far as I remember, it also happened with
default KDE from Kubuntu Dapper.

Adept updater often hangs after fetching list of updates, but before it shows
them.
Exact steps:
1. Run Adept Updater by clicking icon in system tray.
2. Click "Fetch updates"
3. Adept shows downloading repository files, then when it tries to show list of
updates, it hangs.
I have solved the problem. Somehow my /etc/shadow file got in group
"root" instead of "shadow" which caused /sbin/unix_chkpwd to not be able
to access it. I have changed group to "shadow" and now it works OK. But
I do not remember playing with groups on shadow, some tool must have
done it.
BTW. It

for user input apart from watching for silence? dpkg frontend is using
curses interface, maybe hooking into it would help?

Here are messages printed when I run manually "modprobe snd_sb16". Options in

and it worked OK. Apparently gfxboot 0.1.27 is incompatiblee with CD

1. Download isapnptools package from

We are using gfxboot-theme-ubuntu source package in Ubuntu Customization Kit to
change default language on live CD.
It is downloaded using "apt-get source gfxboot-theme-ubuntu" and then compiled
