Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
Version: Kubuntu 6.06.1 If there are many partitions on disk with Linux and grub installed, Ubiquity generates menu.lst which contains all previous boot entries and adds entries for new one. If a few systems are installed along each other, number of entries increases with square of number of installed systems and menu.lst size becomes very big and prevents booting from installed system. The result is that installations succeeds, but the system does not even load GRUB, it shows something like "Loading grub" and then immediately reboots, without even a chance to boot any system. Decreasing size of menu.lst manually fixes the problem. The expected behaviour of Ubiquity would be to check the size of menu.lst and in case it is too big, trim it down to reasonable size, or at least warn user that the system will not be bootable. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubiquity can generate too big grub menu.lst file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
