You don't have to. Just go to my personal package archive and download
the deb files. Then install them via "dpkg -i *.deb".
Or add "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sjost/ubuntu intrepid main" to your
/etc/apt/sources.list (you can find more info here:

Ups, i forgot to add the patch here.

Yeah, it took a while but i have now uploaded a patched version into my
PPA.
luca: It would be cool, if you can test the updated version on your
machine. You can get it from my PPA:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/sjost/ubuntu/pool/main/u/udev/
You probably only need the libvolume-id0 and udev debs.

I don't think it is NetworkManager related. I uninstalled nm and am
using wicd for WLAN Management now, still the problem persists. I am
using intrepid with kernel 2.6.27-7-generic though (haven't got any
update notice yet).
Whenever there is load on the connection i get the "firmnware

That's because the initramfs scripts changed from hardy to intrepid, to
make dmraid play nice with udev. See, in hardy the recognition of a
fakeraid device was made without udev and in intrepid the recognition
was made via vol_id (which is part of udev). And vol_id has this version

I can confirm this bug with an intel bg2200 wlan card with ipw2200

I do think it is related to the "firmware restarting" error message in
dmesg output

I mean, we can try to ask the vendor about the new version, but i doubt
that they will answer. And since the checksum is correct and everything
is running fine here, it's kind of save to make this check a bit more
loose here.
Furthermore I was using this controller card with Fedora 8 before,

The only fix I know is adding
Option "AGPMode" "1"
In the Device Section for your Graphics Adapter. But I think I give away
performance with that.

kernel 2.6.24-16-generic + radeon driver = system freezes
What i meant with "i hope this helps." was that i hope you can make a
real patch for udev out of it. I don't know the procedure here. Who has
the rights to upload this to udev? Will this be a ubuntu fix only or can
someone inform the udev developers?
Meanwhile i tested the patch in my system and i
