You might want to try to install the more recent Debian revision 1.5.1-5 from
here:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/bibus
There is a link to the .deb package at the bottom of the page.

I'm the guy who takes care of gwyddion in Debian. I finished packaging
2.13-1 yesterday evening, it's sitting in Debian-Med's SVN and waiting for a
sponsor. This version is going to feature gwyddion's Python scripting
interface pygwy, finally.
