I am using GIMP v2.6.7-1ubuntu1.1 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (kernel: 2.6.31-19-generic). I have found that GIMP will completely lock up the computer when a user uses processor-intensive tools, such as the Gradient and Path tools. Zooming into the picture seems to cause the computer to freeze as well.
