I can confirm this. I am booted into a no-daemon setup right now.
Similar issues as Damiano details -- mounted drives don't appear, etc. I
think it is a pretty serious bug, since it gives a bad impression of
Ubuntu (not to mention cuts down on productivity due to the mounted
drive issue.)

Basilio,
Thanks for the reminder. I hadn't tried it since updating to Gutsy from

to make sure it isn't a chance occurence or isn't only working because
of my current config (not docked, nothing else mounted, etc.)

I just created a new user and had the same problem. I, by default, had two

it still seems to happen with a new user.

No, it doesn't continue. Should I file a bug with gnome? It seems confusing
that we should be allowed to select the rows in the preferences even though
it won't really work.

Man this bug is frustrating/confusing! I haven't touched my computer for

Any update on docking/undocking? I notice that there is a module
/lib/modules/2.6.20-13-386/kernel/drivers/acpi/dock.ko in fiesty's
latest kernel. When will that module be used in the acpi scripts?

Indeed, it works again for me. The kernel is the same as when I tried it
earlier in the week and it didn't work (2.6.20-13.21) -- I don't know if
there are versions between the two 13.21s I have. I'll respond should I
have a problem again.
