I had the same pink/lines problem. It was right after clicking next on the step 4 screen -- selecting keyboard layout. This is the error I got in the terminal (where I ran ubiquity)

Just fyi: Selected the default install option (not low graphics.) Using the herd2 x86 ISO dont' know anything about this particular machine's graphics card.
