Yes, suspend and resume work perfectly with Precise 12.04.
I understand that this report relates to my system only and I thank you
for your assistance. I was just highlighting that there seems to be

No. I have always been able to suspend and resume. The last few
releases has seen the issue appear at release time but it has been
addressed shortly after.
Frankly, Suspend/Resume is a critical function and it is disappointing

I would like to add that this bug occurs during each Ubuntu release
cycle. This is the third time running for me (at least), starting with
11.10.
Thankfully it has been fixed relatively quickly each release. Hopefully

The fix I posted appears to set backlighting on when keys are pressed
(and switches it off after the set delay time). The ambient light
sensor does not appear to work (ie. in a fully lit room, the keyboard
still lights up).

Added file sony-laptop.conf with single line:

the ambient light sensor. That is, the backlighting always comes on
regardless of whether there is sufficient light detected or not. While
not ideal, this is better than no backlight at all!

I am no longer experiencing any screen corruption, either at the desktop
or the launcher. So this bug appears to be fixed for me. I also
changed to running the Nvidia Version-Current drivers (not the post-
release driver). Not sure if this is part of the fix but everything
looks good now.
