Public bug reported:

I have a Sony Vaio S (VPC137GG). Ubuntu suspends from the menu but does
not suspend when the laptop lid is closed. The Power Settings are
correct (ie. set to suspend on lid close).

This same issue occurred for me during the 11.10 beta phases and was
fixed before the 11.10 launch. Hopefully the same issue has recurred
and can be addressed.
