No need to update BIOS. After upgrading to latest 14.10 and testing for
a few days I can confirm the bug is over, at least in my case.

We use fast-user-switch-applet as default method for shutting down
computers in schools. Our users (400.000+) report us that using a single
user of the system at school f-u-s-a disappears (look at the attached

Exactly one month ago we checked that this issue were present in kacmic
too. Nevertheless, we'll check it again next week with karmic Live and
with the latest packages upgraded.

Another wrong behaviour is that Fn + F6 and Fn + F7 doesn't works for
changing LCD brightness, before upgrading to Jaunty or Karmic those
combination keys worked properly.

My Karmic installation in a similar hardware and configuration is like
yours. I don't feel Karmic to boot slower than Jaunty did.

Using karmic and jaunty in a certain laptop model (Toshiba Tecra M5)
some keys combination doesn't print at the screen (terminal, Openoffice,

sounds works throw headphones but don't work throw speakers.

Hi Marc, Leann, Joey,
We had a similar issue when we tryed to install Jaunty over the network,
finally we found that is something related with the Atom power
management.
Try to disable C-States of the Processor Power Management setup in BIOS.
